The IOMSN International MS Nurse Leadership Award was established to honor those who embody qualities of an outstanding Nursing Leader. They are expert clinicians, educators, mentors, and advocates. This award acknowledges those qualities in MS nurses who practice throughout the world.

The Award Winner Will be Selected Using the Following Criteria:

  • Nurse practicing outside of North America

  • Membership in IOMSN is preferred, but not mandatory

  • Selected by the awards committee from an open ballot of nominations

  • Leadership qualities

  • Nomination ballot must include examples of how this candidate is a leader in MS care and how they meet the following qualities:
    (Should meet at least 2 of 4 of the following leadership qualities)

    1. Consistently demonstrating exemplary understanding and execution of the care of patients with MS.
    2. Educating colleagues and/or patients and/or community on MS.
    3. Contributing to literature or research in MS (can be research projects, written materials (journals, books, articles), social media projects, etc).
    4. Advocates for MS patients and MS Nurses in the clinical setting and in the community.



2019 Awardee In Honor of Nicki Ward-Abel

Nicola "Nicki" Ward-Abel passed away in September 2018. She was a founding member of IOMSN via our UK affiliate and a founding member of MSNICB. She embodied the best in MS Nursing. She was an expert clinician, leader, mentor, and role model. The award acknowledges those qualities in MS nurses who practice throughout the world.
