The mission of the IOMSN is the establishment and perpetuation of a specialized branch of nursing in multiple sclerosis; to establish standards of nursing care; to support nursing research; to educate the healthcare community about multiple sclerosis; and to disseminate this knowledge throughout the world.
In 2020, the MS nursing and professional community, has faced the COVID-19 pandemic with innovative strategies such as telehealth, flexible protocols, patient and family education, and heroic frontline services. However, the prevalence of high burden of Coronavirus illness in communities of color and the recent killings of African American citizens are shocking reminders of the centuries’ long US history of racism in the United States.
The leadership of the IOMSN calls upon its members to uphold our core values of diversity, equality, inclusion, and justice. The Board of Directors of the IOMSN condemns racism in any form and deplores its effects on our members, patients and families, their communities, the United States of America and around the world.
