We have an outstanding opportunity for a Physician Assistant or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner to partner with staff in our MS Center, to be appointed to the academic title of Teaching Associate in the Department of Neurology. This is a full-time, 12-month position, available November 1, 2019. We are looking for a motivated individual, eager to learn, to provide patient care and education, continuity of care, medication checks and provider on call for infusion.
Position is full time, days, Monday - Friday.
The ARNP or PA is responsible for Responsible for providing primary or specialty patient care independently or collaboratively with physicians with appropriate privileges, including ongoing assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patients’ medical, physical and psychosocial status. A critical aspect of the position will be working with other key individuals in the multi-disciplinary team in the development and execution of the model of care.

The Elliot Lewis Center for Multiple Sclerosis Care is seeking a nurse to join our team. The Center offers comprehensive, multidisciplinary care to MS patients, and their families and caregivers, in a warm and personalized setting. The Elliot Lewis Center is comprised of two physicians, onsite infusion center, clinical research team, administrative staff, and our MS service dogs, Jackson and Tiger. We favor a team approach in which every employee participates in the care of every patient.
The role of the nurse is to oversee the care for the patients in the clinic, providing patient education, managing symptoms, prescriptions, and triaging urgent needs. The nurse participates in daily multidisciplinary team meetings and works closely with the neurologists, infusion nurses, administrative staff and research team.
Additional Information: Position is full-time, 5 days per week, 35-40 hours per week

In accordance with UAHSF established policies and procedures, the Clinical Care Coordinator is responsible for the provision and management of patient care in a clinical area for a specific age patient population. To manage the plan of care for a caseload of patients. To serve as the liaison with the multidisciplinary care team. To plan care management as achieved through coordination of care with physicians, nursing staff, and other health professionals to ensure high quality patient outcomes are accomplished within the established time frame and appropriate use of resources. Coordinates patient follow-up clinic visits, verifies appropriate tests. Under general direction of the physician / APP, coordinates care of Memory Patients, serving as a resource for patients, families, physicians, and other health team members in the delivery of neurological care. Obtains information regarding referring physician to assist in continuum of care or return to referring physician for continued care. Provides patient / family education regarding care, medications, and access to additional resources in the continuum of care. Utilizes critical thinking abilities in evaluation of care and the triage of patients. Displays professional rapport with all patients, family and faculty and staff. Displays competencies for basic computer skills, which include MS Word, Outlook, and electronic EHR. Performs other duties in support of specific departmental functions and as deemed necessary.

Essential job duties include both independent decision making abilities and collaboration with the board certified physician to provide expert care to patients with neuromuscular disorders such as Multiple Sclerosis, Movement Disorders, Epilepsy, and other neurological conditions.
Provides individualized care in the inpatient and outpatient environments under the direction of and in collaboration with the Neurological supervising physician. This individualized care is achieved through comprehensive health assessments and treatment; detail documentation of history and physicals, consultations, and progress notes, ordering and or interpreting diagnostic test or studies.
The physical ability and perceptive acuity to satisfactorily perform all direct and indirect patient care functions to include walking, lifting, and standing.

The Nurse Clinician RN - MSCN Certified, is responsible for reviewing escalated clinical criteria reviews for providers, members and patient client advocates within the Prior Authorization/Utilization Management department. Identify and track trends for analytics reporting to ensure clinical criteria program integrity. Maintain a professional and ethical behavior at all times as outlined by the Nurse Practice Act and applicable company policies. To provide quality clinical criteria review for escalated Prior Authorizations as defined by Client specifications to ensure patients are serviced accurately and timely.
