2024 IOMSN Nursing Survey:
In 2024, the International Organization of Multiple Sclerosis Nurses (IOMSN) conducted a vital survey of our nursing members. We wanted to hear directly from you—your needs, your challenges, and your hopes for how the IOMSN can better support you in your critical work.
You shared your experiences, your years of dedication to MS nursing, and the reasons you continue to stand with the IOMSN. You offered thoughtful feedback on how we can enhance our services and grow our community.
You can find a summary of the 2024 Nursing Survey here https://iomsn.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/07/2024-Nursing-Survey_Website.pdf on the the IOMSN website, but here’s what we want you to know now:
"You Spoke, We Listened"
A dedicated Roundtable Taskforce was formed to engage our Board of Directors and communicate key findings from the survey. Over the past year, Board committees have reviewed your feedback, and the results have sparked action, innovation, and growth.
Here’s what we’ve achieved together so far—thanks to your input:
A Growing Resource Library
We’ve created a dynamic, ever-expanding catalogue of virtual educational materials, including slide decks, evidence-based articles, and MS care resources. These tools are designed to help MS nurses enhance patient care, educate others, and to prepare for for MS Nursing Certification.
Support for Nurse Publishing
In partnership with the International Journal of MS Care, we’ve launched a new initiative to empower nurses to publish. This program provides the guidance, tools, and mentorship needed to write, peer-review, and publish journal articles. Mentorship, virtual group coaching and research opportunities may also part of this exciting initiative.
Introducing the IOMSN Industry Council
We’re proud to launch the Industry Council—a collaborative platform between IOMSN and our Industry nurse members working with MS Clinicians. The goal is to foster professional growth, provide educational opportunities, and share resources beneficial for the clinicians with whom the Industry nurses have frequent contact.
Celebrating Innovation: The Nightingale Awards
With generous support from EMD Serono and Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany, we awarded $100,000 in grants to nurses around the world. These funds support initiatives that enhance MS care and recognize the bold ideas and deep expertise of MS nurses everywhere.
A Global Connection: International Liaison Role
The new International Liaison for MS Nurses serves as a vital bridge between IOMSN and sister organizations around the world. This role promotes the development of global care standards, supports international research collaboration, and fosters a united voice for MS nursing worldwide.
Strengthening Regional Liaisons in the U.S.
We’ve reassessed and expanded our U.S. Regional Liaison program to offer even more support. Additional liaisons have been added, and future training and role development are underway to better serve you in your regions.
Mentorship and Peer Engagement
Our Buddy Program continues to connect MS nurses for mentorship and guidance. Through the Google Group, we host monthly clinical case discussions, offering a space for collaboration, clinical insights, and peer support. New mentorship opportunities and engagement methods are also being explored. Many of our valued Regional Liaisons were showcased on social media to highlight their role and regions.
Website Redesign in Progress
Our Website Committee has been working on a new site structure to improve your online experience. Stay tuned for a more intuitive, user-friendly platform to access resources, connect with colleagues, and stay updated on IOMSN initiatives.
Looking Ahead to 2025
2024 was a year of growth, action, and transformation—thanks to your valuable input. As we move into 2025, our focus turns to the Publishing Initiative, and we once again need your voice. We invite all of you to join us for the 2025 Annual meeting of the CMSC, May 28-30, 2025, in Phoenix, AZ. This meeting will be dedicated to the legacy of June Halper whose vision for MS care brings us together.
